Northern India found itself running short of perhaps the single most important thing there is – Oxygen. It was an unprecedented crisis that saw healthcare infrastructure across the city grapple with mortality.
Hamari Udaan decided to help .
Our doctor friends from the USA, Australia and UK took the initiative of collecting funds and arranging for the concentrator units. Despite the shortage in India at that time, we were also able to procure some devices locally. The entire shipping and customs clearance procedures were also challenging, to say the least.
Thankfully, everything came together. We were able to deploy concentrators to the point of care in New Delhi/NCR when it mattered the most. Towards the end of the second wave, as Delhi was able to find its bearings, we reached out and donated units to other cities in need, including Panipat, Behror, Gwalior and its rural surrounds.
This is a victory, but it is not ours alone. Hamari Udaan gratefully acknowledges the support it received from individuals and collectives from around the world. Hamari Udaan salutes all those kind people who willingly spent time, effort and money to help us, often going out of the way to do so.
We are truly overwhelmed, and we thank you all.
